Amazon looking to add 2,500 more employees to the 3,000 already assigned to HQ2

There are currently more than 3,000 Amazon employees assigned to HQ2 in Arlington, VA — more than double the number of employees this time last year.

And, Amazon is currently looking to hire more than 2,500 additional corporate employees for a variety of jobs at HQ2, including software development engineers, technical sales representatives, program managers, and solutions architects.

Amazon will be holding a virtual career day on Wednesday, September 15. You can register for the free event online.

Amazon’s $2.5 billion investment in HQ2 and the surrounding area will result in 25,000 Amazon jobs over the next decade and thousands of indirect jobs across the entire region.

Amazon’s green transportation incentives benefit Crystal City and surrounding neighborhoods, not just Amazon employees

While Amazon already subsidizes parking or public transportation for its HQ2 employees in Arlington, Virginia, it will now pay employees even more if they bike to work.

This latest green-friendly bike-to-work incentive, and others (including encouraging employees to choose public transportation over their single-occupancy vehicles), is part of a multifaceted string of initiatives intended to lower Amazon’s carbon footprint in communities, including ours, where it operates.

Local water systems are inspiring Amazon HQ2’s “Pen Place,” the name the company has dubbed the more than 2.5 acres of publicly accessible park area in Arlington that will give employees and county-wide residents alike an “immersive botanical experience” with its connections to existing parks in the county.
