Arlington’s Instagram Style

1025_the_arlington_life_virginia_instagram_style_by_meg_ross_realtor

I regularly scour Instagram to spotlight cool happenings, curious people, and interesting stuff throughout Arlington, Virginia. Here’s a rundown of the best recent Instagram finds including:

  • Two local runs, a 5k and marathon, to look forward to
  • An event where you and your toddler can play and party together
  • A TBT taking us back to Arlington in the 1930’s

A pre-run party

Another event to add to your calendars is the 13th Annual 5k Arlington Turkey Trot. Since the first year, the annual Turkey Trot has raised over $600,00 for those in our community, including the Arlington Food Assistance Center, one of my favorite local charities. This year, however, they’ve added something new to the event… a pre-run costume contest! See how your costume compares to Thomas the Turkey and his friends.

A run to support our marines

The Turkey Trot is a fun event to look forward to, but there is another run here in Arlington this weekend that everyone is preparing for: the Marine Corps Marathon.  People are flying in from around the country and the world to celebrate the Marine Corps and community good will. It feels like an honor that this event happens in our own backyard.

A pooch and a painting

We always say that Arlington is a great place to live, but it is ALSO a beautiful place to live! Here is one example of neighborhood beautification, a mural painted by the No Kings Collective in Crystal City. While their main office may be in DC, they have definitely done their fair share of work in our own backyard.

A delicious treat

Speaking of beautiful, take a look at this ice cream from Kabob Bazaar in Clarendon. It may be getting colder outside, but that won’t stop me from popping into this local Iranian restaurant for a taste!

Time to play at Pouch

For loving parents whose hands are full with infants and young children, managing to get out to attend any of the many Halloween themed events can be difficult. That’s why I loved the idea of Pouch Daycare’s Spooktacular Halloween Eve. The free event includes a morning of open play, music, treats, coffee, and more. Make sure grab your little one’s costume before you run out the door!

TBT: Washington-Hoover Airport

Another TBT from @arlingtoncountyva, showing the Washington-Hoover Airport in 1934. Looks a lot like Gravelly Point Park, don’t you think? Add a comment below to let us know!
